You're viewing the original Hometown Invasion Tour website as it appeared in 2006/07. At the time, a site built with tables and flash was commonplace. A few backend changes were made to keep the site functioning, but it appears just as it did 16 years ago.

Here We Mark...

Here We Mark...

Washington, District Of Columbia

I don’t think i was the only one disappointed with the scene at the World War II Memorial. This is a memorial to give honor to those who fought and died for this country, and here you have teenagers lying on the memorial covering up that honor. A much different scene than the Vietnam Memorial, where of course you cannot rest on the memorial.

Was this a lack of respect for the memorial? Hard to judge without seeing the whole memorial. Still looks like a lack of respect.

Last time I was at the memorial on a hot summer day I saw the same thing. Though it looks a tad disrespectful, this memorial appears to have been built for people to congregate in/on. People are always sticking their feet in the fountain and children are running to and from. There isn't the same amount of reverence with this memorial because it has become a meeting/resting point for many tourists. There simply are not enough places to rest in the Mall area. Have fun on the rest of your trip Nicholas P.S. Nice article in U.25 about ya.

When I looked at this photo the first thing I thought was, "I wonder if any of these young people have ever had loved ones serve our country." Where did Respect go?
