You're viewing the original Hometown Invasion Tour website as it appeared in 2006/07. At the time, a site built with tables and flash was commonplace. A few backend changes were made to keep the site functioning, but it appears just as it did 16 years ago.

My Record is 5-0

Monday, Oct 23, 2006 from Casper, Wyoming

Yesterday I was a pretty lucky guy. I got to freeze my butt off while watching the Wyoming Cowboys kick the butts of the Colorado State Rams. The final score was 24-0. The home team was hardly challenged, and that’s who I’m rooting for. I root for the home team no matter where I am (unless it’s against the Red Wings or MSU). I figured if I was cheering for the visiting team somewhere I might get kicked out of town. I won’t make friends in my host town if I’m cheering for the other team.

That being said… my record is five wins and zero losses. I’m impressed, and it includes some underdog teams.

It started with the Cubs winning 4-0 against the Reds when I was in Chicago at Wrigley Field. Then I watched the Twins take the Royals by a scored of 3-2. Next, at the White Bear Lake homecoming game the Bears beat the Raiders 17-0. And this week I attended the Oil Bowl, the big rivalry football game in Casper. Kelly Walsh took it to Natrona Country with a score of 20-7. And then it came down to the Wyoming game. Though I was kind of bummed we (Jim, Paul, and I) left with five minutes to go. I haven’t left a game early in years.

I have to say that if anyone plans to do a 50 state tour of the U.S. you can’t leave sports out of the picture. Sports are such a huge part of this country. No matter where you are, no matter if it’s pro or high school, people come out for it and cheer to the final seconds. I’ve only seen football and baseball so far, but there are 42 states to go.

Excuse me but I think you forgot about the Tigers - I this qualifies as an exception to always rooting for the home team since they are in the World Series. Come on, St. Louis - you gotta stick with the MI team for this one!

Emily, you're right, he has to go with the Tigers and I think he is. They just slipped his mind for a moment. Go Tigers!!!
