You're viewing the original Hometown Invasion Tour website as it appeared in 2006/07. At the time, a site built with tables and flash was commonplace. A few backend changes were made to keep the site functioning, but it appears just as it did 16 years ago.

The Perfect Wedding

Sunday, Aug 26, 2007 from Madison, Wisconsin

I have never been to a better wedding than this. I’m not just saying it because it’s my own brother, or because it’s the only wedding I have ever stood in. It was just perfect. After a week of rain we were all a little nervous about the weather for the outdoor wedding. And as we all woke up on Saturday morning we all witnessed the beginning of a beautiful day.

The wedding is on top of a ski hill. I’m glad Adam and Kimmie had me in mind when they picked a location. Now ski hills in the middle of Wisconsin aren’t exactly jaw dropping, but it was beautifully green. It was unique and one of a kind. Everyone at the wedding, including my 84-year-old grandma made it to the top of the hill via chair lift. It was fantastic! Everyone in their nice clothes on a beautiful day just floating up to the top of the hill. It was especially stunning with the bridesmaids and bride, Kimmie herself, with this beautiful wedding gown going up the chairlift. The ceremony overlooked the green forest behind us with music provided by a string quartet. The wedding was fairly small, three people standing on each side, and a very nice ceremony. It was classy and elegant. Very much what I would like my wedding to be.

At the reception there was no DJ or grand entrance, only live music, which is hard to find at weddings. The string quartet played during dinner and after dinner they switched out and in came the jazz band for some dancing. The silverware on the champagne glasses was kept to a minimal amount and not overdone. And like some weddings, thankfully, they did not introduce the bridal party as if they were football players coming out of the tunnel. It was all done very tastefully with class. And for their first dance as a married couple, they took 8 weeks of dancing lessons. I was impressed.

Kimmie has taken my brother’s last name, she is now a Sailor. I was completely tickled by how well they used the sailor theme, but once again not over done. The programs were titled, “Anchored in love”. Also on the program came a little wooden sailboat for everyone to bring home. The wedding cake had tiny blue anchors on it. It was fantastic, I have a lot of pride in the Sailor name. But now when I get married I won’t be able to do the same thing because I’ll be called a copycat. Maybe I’ll have the actual wedding on a tall ship.

I now have a sister in-law, Mrs. Kimberly Sailor. There is always lots of laughter in the family and I look forward to sharing lots of laughter with Kimmie for years and years. It was awesome to see my only brother get married. He’s done good, really good.

We're reading this entry from a library in Ireland and misting up over the whole matter! Thanks for being there to celebrate with us, dear brother-in-law!
