You're viewing the original Hometown Invasion Tour website as it appeared in 2006/07. At the time, a site built with tables and flash was commonplace. A few backend changes were made to keep the site functioning, but it appears just as it did 16 years ago.

My Family Reunion

Friday, Aug 24, 2007 from Madison, Wisconsin

Today was long anticipated. If you look at the map I have now completed a very big circle around the country. I’m back in Madison, WI, which is where I spent my 6th night of the trip. That was a long time ago, a really long time ago. The people, new experiences, and stories that fill the that big red line across the country seem to be more than what can fit in a calendar.

This time in Madison is a special occasion. My brother’s wedding. We have all been looking forward to it. For me it’s the first time to see a lot of my family since the college graduation. It was a big reunion of sorts as they were all very excited to see me after this wild year. As for my parents it’s the third time seeing them (and third state) since I left. We’re getting used to the excitement. The first two times seeing them were big surprises (one for them and one for me on national TV), and this time it’s for my brother’s wedding. My brother Adam has now seen me on four different occasions on the trip.

To be honest it’s a little weird seeing so many familiar faces and not having to be “on”. It’s a strange feeling to be used to having conversations with people I know nothing about. After a year of it there is no doubt that it becomes what you know. Anyways…

This weekend is going to be one big exciting party. It’ll be pretty exhausting too, but I’ll catch up with my sleep on the flight to Alaska.
