-Bugsy You're viewing the original Hometown Invasion Tour website as it appeared in 2006/07. At the time, a site built with tables and flash was commonplace. A few backend changes were made to keep the site functioning, but it appears just as it did 16 years ago. See what I've been up to for the last 16 years at www.bugsy.me |

Falcon BowlWednesday, Sep 13, 2006 from Milwaukee, WisconsinTonight I was introduced to a fine slice of Americana, bowling at the Falcon. It’s only a short drive from Anah and Dan’s. The team consists of Dan, Robby, Kevin, Leif, and Craig. Together they make up “The Bowlsheviks,” an eclectic group of guys, four of the five having full long beards who are all in their mid-twenties. Each of them has a unique personality. Craig, who’s from Texas, loves his cowboy boots and cowboy hat. He’s very pleasant to talk to. Leif has some messy black hair and an outgoing personality and seems to be very open to everyone around him, giving lots of high-fives, asking about their lives, etc. Kevin is known for his suspenders and long red beard at the bowling alley, a tall slender man who is very soft spoken and smiles often. He’s very easy to talk with. Robby is quite the character. He married his wife Tara only a few months ago. The two of them are great to be around, energetic and spontaneous. And then there is Dan, who of course I stayed with for a week along with Anah. Dan’s a talker, lots to say and a lot taller than I am, he and Anah are always kind and easy going. So that’s the crew. Going to the Flacon was a good way to wrap up the week. It’s a tiny old bowling alley in the basement of a neighborhood bar. The crew I was with was by far the youngest group there. Most of the bowlers were probably 50 and older, and they came to play. They take part in a weekly league and take it seriously. Now I know to slap hands when someone gets a mark, and hit fists when they miss. And I love the game of poker for whoever gets the best hand with all their marks. These are things I didn’t know before tonight. A great memory and a place full of character. |
