You're viewing the original Hometown Invasion Tour website as it appeared when launched in 2006. Back then, a site built with tables and flash was commonplace. A few changes were made, but it appears as it did eleven years ago. A modern and responsive version is in the works.

I’m reaching some of the first milestones on the trip. There are over 100 blogs and 500 photos on the site. I’ve been on the road for 57 days since I’ve left Baraga and have traveled about 6,000 miles in that time. I’ve completed stays in 9 states. The first leg of the trip is almost over. What I’m most excited about and can’t wait to see is the ocean! I’m almost to the west coast! I’ve made it all the way to Washington.
Considering all I’ve done so far let’s take a look at some of the averages and estimates for content on the trip. I love statistics, and if something can be quantified I usually don’t pass it up. These are the stats through the first 9 states since I left Baraga on September 8th.
75 blogs, 533 photos, 5944 miles, and 9 states in 57 days.
Blogs: 1.32 blogs/day 1 blog / 0.012 miles 8.33 blogs/state 482 estimated blog entries for the trip At 500 words/blog it would be an estimated 241,000 words
Photos: 9.35 photos/day 1 photo / 0.087 miles 59.22 photos/state 3,413 estimated photos for the trip*
Miles: 104.28 miles/day 660.44 miles/state 79.25 miles/blog 11.15 miles/photo 38,062 estimated miles for the trip (from daily average, which will of course go down when I reach the east coast)
There have been dozens of new friends, 100s of e-mails, dozens of news articles, hundreds of stares while driving, and there are more memories and thoughts than my blog and photos can keep up with. My brain is constantly turning on this trip. I’ll need to turn my head in for one that can hold a larger brain pretty soon between all the memories, learning, and the day to day things I take in.
*This estimate will come down I’m sure, I took hundreds with the Boise crew that inflated the average. However, these are just what I put online. There are thousands of more photos on my computer.
