-Bugsy You're viewing the original Hometown Invasion Tour website as it appeared in 2006/07. At the time, a site built with tables and flash was commonplace. A few backend changes were made to keep the site functioning, but it appears just as it did 16 years ago. See what I've been up to for the last 16 years at www.bugsy.me |

I'm Only 24Friday, Mar 9, 2007 from Plano, TexasAt only 24 years old sometimes I feel too young to be on a trip like this, but I know that the timing is right. Everyday there are great people I’m corresponding with across the country, from state senators, business owners, distinguished professors and executives, and city mayors. There is all this information I’m trying to absorb that comes at me faster than anyone could absorb. I suppose sometimes I still feel young and naive. On the other hand, while I may not know much about ethnography, the true experience of the trip is that itself, the experience. With a young open mind I am out exploring the country to learn. I don’t have much to say out here on the road, mostly I just listen and observe. What en education. For something of this scale I’m in awe. I can’t believe that at 24 years old I get to experience the country through the eyes of citizens in all 50 states. By years end I’ll have stayed with over 100 different host families. That’s a small number compared to most numbers we hear about on the news. But to me and in this instance it is an enormous number. Cool Bugsy, cool. I am creating a very deep connection with this country I call home. It’s a connection that many people take a lifetime to achieve. I’m seeing the fabrics that make up the United States.
