You're viewing the original Hometown Invasion Tour website as it appeared in 2006/07. At the time, a site built with tables and flash was commonplace. A few backend changes were made to keep the site functioning, but it appears just as it did 16 years ago.

Super Guy

Tuesday, May 22, 2007 from Charleston, South Carolina

Connection after connection. Town after town. State after state. Week after week. Now that I’m in Charleston there is quite the connection, through a chain of people I have never met. For a couple months now I have been keeping in touch with Sean Aiken. Cool guy. Sean, from Canada, started a project called One Week Job. Each week Sean is starting a brand new job, from being a bungee operator, florist, volleyball coach, and much more Sean is having a lot of the same experience I am, and for a lot of the same reasons, we’re pretty much in the same boat on different seas.

I’m not sure if I found Sean or Sean found me. But Sean put me in touch with Scotty and Fiddy. Scotty and Fiddy trumped my trip. Of course I recently met Amy who met all 50 governors when she was 12. Well, Scotty and Fiddy hitchhiked to all 50 state capitols in only 50 days. They dubbed their project Hitch 50. Taking a year I guess I’m a little slower than they are. But I did find Dishwasher Pete’s book recently. His trip to all 50 states took over 10 years on his quest to wash dishes in all 50. And of course I’ve heard of sevreal other 50-state tours in some fashion or another.

From there, I believe how it worked is that Scotty and Fiddy got me in touch with Evan. Evan has done some brilliant work and you can check him out at Evan White PR. If not the most notable, one of my favorite projects he helped out on is One Red Paperclip. Kyle traded a red paperclip for a house. Kyle is also Scotty’s brother from Hitch 50.

Evan then got me in touch with my current host, Mark. Mark and a couple other genus’ decided, “Hey, let’s raise $3 million and make our own super bowl commercial.” They’re all about the little guy. Their project is called My Bowl Ad. To say the least it’s amazing to see such awesome independent projects and know all these great vision peoples have, independent and going for their dreams. Now the “little guy” can have a spot on national TV. Who knows, would it be possible to get Rice or maybe the Invasion Mobile Compass in a Super Bowl ad? I think so.

It’s an inspiration to know about all these awesome projects that are going on. My brain is turning fast of what I want to do next now. The possibilities are endless. I would just like to see all of us get together in one room. Just think of the ideas we could come up with.

Oh yeah, I just found out that Mark has the some birthday as me, February 10th. That makes him the first of the trip of people I’ve met.
