You're viewing the original Hometown Invasion Tour website as it appeared in 2006/07. At the time, a site built with tables and flash was commonplace. A few backend changes were made to keep the site functioning, but it appears just as it did 16 years ago.

Folly Beach

Friday, May 25, 2007 from Charleston, South Carolina

Of the several beaches in the area, Folly Beach is the more youthful of them. The first time around I found myself there with Mark and Lindsay. The next time around it was just the guys, Mark, AJ, and myself. Folly Beach isn’t the most glamorous of beaches I’ve seen on the trip. There have been a lot of beaches, Long Beach, Canon Beach, Santa Cruz, Waikiki, North Shore, Biloxi, Panama City, St. Pete, Key West, South Beach, Tybee Beach, and even stopped at the beach along Lake Michigan way back on September 2nd when I first got started. I got my second sunburn of the trip, but thankfully it wasn’t as bad as the damage Panama City Beach had on me.

Folly Beach Part II
Have you ever watched a movie where you see someone in the movie lose their bathing suit at the beach? I think we’ve all seen comedies of some sort that have a scene like that. I think for most people, at least for me, we think, “How come I never actually see something like that happen?” I mean it never happens. Look at all the beaches I just mentioned. Well it happened! I still think it was some kind of dream. There I was chilling on the beach. Mark and AJ were both in the water. As I look up I see this girl (probably between 17 and 22 I’m guessing) running by without her bikini bottoms! My reaction was just the same as the beach neighbors on both side. We looked up with our jaws dropped, very confused, and just wondered, “Am I really seeing this?” Now my camera (with telephoto lens already on) was right next to me. I thought I should grab it and snap away at 5 frames per second. Even the guy a few feet down said I should grab it since he saw me using it earlier. Well, I opted not to use it, which honestly I kind of regret. It’d be great to have a photo to go with the story, partially as humor, partially as evidence. All of our heads slowly turned as she went running down the beach where the water was just ankle deep. There she went, trying to cover as much as she could with her two hands. Still not sure how she lost her bottoms. I believe we were all too flabbergasted to think about handing her a towel. I feel bad about that part. Oh my, I still couldn’t believe it. All in all I think it was pretty harmless, I hope she wasn’t too embarrassed. I mean it happens.

I’m still not sure if Mark and AJ believed me when I told them. They were disappointed to have missed it. But we chuckled about it on and off through the day as we shared the story with other folks we met up with.

Bugsy, you really made me chuckle on this one! I can just see all the male heads turning one by one in the same direction, and mouths hanging open! Thanks for the image you've created in my mind's eye!
