You're viewing the original Hometown Invasion Tour website as it appeared in 2006/07. At the time, a site built with tables and flash was commonplace. A few backend changes were made to keep the site functioning, but it appears just as it did 16 years ago.

Closing Out PA

Saturday, Aug 4, 2007 from Bellevue, Pennsylvania

Pennsylvania is done, that’s 45 states complete. It has been a goooood stop! Lot’s of great food, cookies, ice cream cream, cookie dough ice cream with homemade cookie dough mixed in and it was finished with two great meals eating out before leaving town. If you’re in Bellevue you need to stop in at The Rusty Nail for breakfast. They give you 4 strips of bacon! That’s very unheard of. I love my bacon and most places will give you a wimpy two strips, three if you’re lucky. Four still isn’t near enough for me, but they’re off to a good start. Now the trick is to find a restaurant that will give you a big big glass of orange juice instead of a glass that has just one big gulp in it.

If you’re in Pittsburgh you can’t leave without going to the strip and eating at Primanti Brothers. There is nothing like it, and it’s one of the top 10 pig out places in the country. The list of new and interesting foods is growing. At Primanti Brothers every sandwich served includes coleslaw and fries. And by the way, unlike other restaurants who put them on the side, the Prtimanti Brothers put them right on the sandwich. It’s a unique twist to the ordinary sandwich.

It was a great stop! It has been a really long time since staying with a family with a young child. I got a great lesson on new toys and was refreshed by the imagination of a six year old.
