-Bugsy You're viewing the original Hometown Invasion Tour website as it appeared in 2006/07. At the time, a site built with tables and flash was commonplace. A few backend changes were made to keep the site functioning, but it appears just as it did 16 years ago. See what I've been up to for the last 16 years at www.bugsy.me |

Blog ArchiveLeaving MetropolisJul 8, 2007 from Portland, MaineAt last, I am refreshed to be out of the booming metropolis of the East Coast. For the last several weeks I have made it through Washington, D.C., New York City, and Boston. And of course the other stops between in New Jersey, Connecticut, and Rhode Island are all just states full of cities that connect all these big ones together. It’s a fast pace in the city and it was a great time, but it feels pretty good to be out of the big city. … Posted: Jul 8, 2007 | Post a commentBoston Fourth of JulyJul 5, 2007 from Somerville, MassachusettsSometimes the timing on this trip just works out perfectly. I have been wanting to be in Boston for the 4th of July for a very long time now. Well this has been my year for a lot of those wishes to come true. The historical relevance is unmatched. Aside from the history I have been wanting to see the Boston fireworks show since I was a kid. If you ever get the chance to go, make it happen, it’s something everyone should do once. … Posted: Jul 5, 2007 | Post a commentWelcome to SalemJul 4, 2007 from Salem, MassachusettsThere seems to be just one thing that Salem, MA is known for, The Salem Witch Trials of 1692, as for you theatre fanatics you may know it better as The Crucible. Oddly, Salem is one of the very few towns on this trip that I have previously been to. But if you think that’s stranger, what gets stranger is that Rebecca Nurse (one of the first “witches” hanged, and a leading character in The Crucible) is something along the lines of my 8th or 9th great grandmother. … Posted: Jul 4, 2007 | Post a commentA Dose of Rhode IslandJul 2, 2007 from Bristol, Rhode IslandIn addition to making a few stops at Dunkin’ Donuts while in Rhode Island, there are other must dos as well. Del’s frozen lemonade is a must have! You better not leave the state before having some. And don’t worry it’s not too hard to find, it’s almost as common as Dunkin’ Donuts. Next you have to try a Hot Weener. Now I’m not sure what this is, but it was pretty good. … Posted: Jul 2, 2007 | Post a commentAnimal HouseJun 30, 2007 from Cranston, Rhode IslandAs I made my way from CT to RI I took the long way around and avoided the interstate. It was a good call to take my time and see more, see a lot more. And what I kept seeing over and over again where more Dunkin’ Donuts, tons of Dunkin’ Donuts. They were on every corner and in every gas station. It makes sense, Dunkin’ Donuts was founded not too far from here in Massachusetts. … Posted: Jun 30, 2007 | Post a commentDay #300Jun 28, 2007 from Cranston, Rhode IslandThe great milestone of 300 days, the day itself wasn’t spectacular. It was another travel day. Travel days are usually a lot more mellow and time to catch up with my thoughts. Today I made use of the new feature on Google Maps where you can choose directions without using major highways. I made it a 3-hour drive for just 90 miles from Connecticut to Rhode Island. Ah yes, Rhode Island. … Posted: Jun 28, 2007 | Post a commentResurrectedJun 27, 2007 from Stamford, ConnecticutLarry, I’m impressed. No offence for other young hosts who have had me on this trip, but in general younger generations are not as good of hosts as older generations. I think that’s just a natural progression through maturity in life, so no worries. But Larry, I’m impressed, he did a great job hosting for his age (same age as me). It was also great to knock out a connection through my brother as well, as most of my hosts have come through much more distant connections. … Posted: Jun 27, 2007 | Post a commentGuest Post: Sean AikenJun 25, 2007 from Stamford, ConnecticutSearching for his passion, one job at a time - Sean Aiken
He said it with a conviction that comes with a money-back guarantee: “Go after what you love doing and the money will come.”
This was the advice of David Chilton, author of The Wealthy Barber, during a conference I attended last month in Vancouver. He was speaking to the importance of finding something you love doing; refusing to allow the thought of an uncertain financial future to impede you along the way. … Posted: Jun 25, 2007 | Post a commentFrisbee Golf & Guitar HeroJun 24, 2007 from Stamford, ConnecticutThere’s no doubt that one of the absolute coolest parts of this trip is all the new things I get to try. One of the strangest sports I’ve tried is probably iceblocking. The newest addition the the list is Frisbee golf, real Frisbee golf. I’ve palyed with the real discs before earlier on this trip just in the backyard while in South Dakota. And I used to play with a regular Frisbee when I was a kid around my hard. … Posted: Jun 24, 2007 | Post a commentFamous SquirrelsJun 23, 2007 from Stamford, ConnecticutRice has become a celebrity, there is no denying it (the first squirrel to visit all 50 states). Sometimes when I arrive at a new host they are more excited to meet Rice than they are me. And I’m cool with that, I completely understand that people would rather meet a fake plastic squirrel than another human being. If I had known Rice was going to become such a big hit across the country I would have planned to incorporate more. … Posted: Jun 23, 2007 | Post a comment |
