You're viewing the original Hometown Invasion Tour website as it appeared in 2006/07. At the time, a site built with tables and flash was commonplace. A few backend changes were made to keep the site functioning, but it appears just as it did 16 years ago.

Variety Night with Brent

Wednesday, Nov 15, 2006 from Roseburg, Oregon

Tonight was variety night, I was the audience, and Randy’s housemate Brent was the entertainer. Brent is a guy with many talents. You may not expect it. He definitely reminds me of my friend Bob, who could walk on his hands for long distances, juggle, play guitar, and list random facts about Bruce Lee, and of course Bob has a very sporadic personality, random and all over the place.

First, Brent slammed on the drums for a little while getting out some energy. We both admitted that we had no musical talent. He then came walking out juggling three balls. After a few minutes of that he grabbed his harmonica and started playing a Beatles song. As someone who wants to play the harmonica someday I was pretty impressed, and he claimed that he couldn’t play anything. That didn’t last long before he grabbed a deck of cards and fooled me. Of course no magician shows how a trick works. Some good tricks. The next trick was with a cigarette and he put some ashes in my first, although my fist was closed the entire time. Or was it? Great stuff. After that settled down he showed me some of his bubble toys. I’d have to say it’s an admirable collection for all these bubble making toys. So he had to prove to me that he can mix the best solution for making big bubbles. So we headed outside and made some bubbles, big bubbles, those ones that are eight feet long.

Variety night is always enjoyable. It’s cool when you get to know a person a little better and all of these small talents and interests come out.
