You're viewing the original Hometown Invasion Tour website as it appeared in 2006/07. At the time, a site built with tables and flash was commonplace. A few backend changes were made to keep the site functioning, but it appears just as it did 16 years ago.

Most Affordable Living

Wednesday, Oct 11, 2006 from Minot, North Dakota

My friend Jen (who I wrote this lovely piece about) sent me an article this evening about the most afforable living in the United States.

America’s most affordable housing markets

Guess what town is on top of the list? You guessed it! (at least I give you the benefit of the doubt). Minot, ND is rated #1 for most affordable living based on median home price. Pretty cool.

What’s interesting is how Colleen was pointing how her neighborhood and how these dozens and dozens of houses have been built in just the last few years. And they’re building more and more. They’re not small houses. They’re very nice! Maybe because of the market they can afford to build a bigger house and get more for their buck. What’s always bothered me however is the monotony of all the houses. They’re all the same! It almost makes my stomach turn. I’m learning a lot about how people live. Americans are buying bigger houses than ever before and all that jazz. A lot more towns to see!

Did you know that last night's 10/15 episode of Extreme Home Makeover took place in Minot, ND. It was a great story!
