You're viewing the original Hometown Invasion Tour website as it appeared in 2006/07. At the time, a site built with tables and flash was commonplace. A few backend changes were made to keep the site functioning, but it appears just as it did 16 years ago.

NYC, NYC, and more NYC

Saturday, Jun 16, 2007 from New York, New York

During spring break, the first week of March in 2006, Devon, Khalid, Kevin and I hopped in my car for a road trip to New York City. My first real road trip. On the drive out I remember trying to find the right time to tell them about my big plans. So I spilled my idea, the very idea that I’m living out now. For some reason I remember them all giving me blank stares as if they were thinking, “Oh sure, whatever you say Bugsy.” At the end of a great week I remember telling Devon, “I have a feeling I’ll make it back here again sooner than later.”

It took nine months to make it back to New York City after that first trip. And what a trip it was. Sure I dreamed about being on a talk show, being flown to NYC, and having everything paid for for a few days. I never thought it would actually happen. And when it did, wow what a trip! I sure didn’t expect a surprise of my family being there. So that was my second trip to NYC, experiencing it in a way not many people get to.

Once again, I have made it back to NYC. Three nights spent between Manhattan and Brooklyn. Once again I have a feeling that it won’t be long before I make it back again. Who knows, maybe work at an advertising agency someday in NYC just to try it. It’s just enormous and I want to see it all and experience it all. Sometimes I sit back and try to think of more ideas of a project like this that I could work on in NYC.

As big as New York City is, it felt great to see a few familiar things, which I have not seen in a long time. New York City is the second place on the trip that I have been back to a third time, the other is Breckenridge, CO.
