Here in New Mexico: Part I

I force myself to keep my eyes open while I write another blog. All I want to do is sleep, but I know that if I don’t get things done now that I never will, e-mails, web updates, photo editing, writing, notes, and who knows what else. Usually I force myself to get at least eight hours of sleep the night before a driving day, but that didn’t happen last night, usually never does. I left Durango at about 10:30am and arrived to Albuquerque at my new hosts at about 6:30pm. On the way I started going backwards taking a side trip to Mesa Verde National Park and then to the Four Corners Monument. I’m going to start writing my blogs like this: Arrived in New Mexico. State #18. #17 if you look at how I’m going back to CO. Nice drive. Some rain. Muddy white trucks. New hosts. Dairy Queen, yummy. Mesa Verde, alright, some things closed, snowy. Four corners, overrated, picture of rice, but nobody to take one of me. And there we are! Today’s blog all in a matter of a few short words. Ahhhh so much easier, now I can roll over and finally go to bed. Ha ha, yeah right, I still have about 200 photos that need to be edited down from the last week.

C’mon Bugsy, stay awake, just a little longer, you can do it! I’d like to take a vacation for a week. However, since I know myself pretty well, all I would do is work on the website, come up with new features, write more in my journal, make more contacts, plan more of the trip, etc. I guess I would need two weeks of vacation, one week of vacation to work and one week of vacation to hope that I got it all done. My brother was telling me how is boss sometimes takes a vacation day just so he can sit in his office with no phone calls and actually get stuff done. We are a country full of work-a-holics, from what I’ve seen there is no exaggeration in that.

Here in New Mexico I’m staying with a family of four. Mark and Christa have two children, Jackie who is 12 and Randal who is 15. I’m really looking forward to doing a little skateboarding with Randal. I remember being that age and being obsessed with skateboarding, always bringing the videotape to see what we could do. And I hear that he has a pretty good clip of when he broke his arm, it definitely brings me back to a few crazy stories of skateboarding. Fortunately, the only trip to the hospital from skateboarding was due to my friend Bob’s injury and not mine. Anyways… Christa is Betsy’s cousin who I stayed with for a few days in Spokane. Betsy is also my mom’s cousin, but on the other side of Betsy’s family.
