You're viewing the original Hometown Invasion Tour website as it appeared in 2006/07. At the time, a site built with tables and flash was commonplace. A few backend changes were made to keep the site functioning, but it appears just as it did 16 years ago.

New Years Resolution

Monday, Jan 1, 2007 from Henderson, Nevada

2007! The fact that it’s 2007 and I’m still on the road with this trip is a huge milestone. I’ve been driving the Compass for four months as of today. It’s been 1/3 of a year! Wow! I’ve come a long ways. And now New Years is probably one of my favorite holidays, it’s great to turn on the TV and see that people are celebrating something together across the world. And with all that there is the whole thing about new years resolutions.

A new years resolution? Hmmm, ok here it is, to get as much down as I can on January 1st, 2007. I’m not going to worry about all the other days. Maybe I’ll even clean out my car and try to keep it neat for at least two weeks. But that’s all I need. Quite frankly, there are more new years resolutions I could come up with for this trip than I have ever thought of before. I could talk about e-mailing more, updating photos more, doing more, eating better, logging more, the list goes on and on. But, no more of that resolution stuff, it’s impossible on this trip. I can’t even go to bed on a regular schedule or ever get up on time or at the same time.

It’s going to be an amazing year. When it comes to 2008, 2009, etc, how am I going to be able to top 2007? I think I’ll spend most of 2007 thinking about how I can top this trip. The last four months have been something I could have never imagined. I didn’t know what I was getting into, but I had to do it and I went for it. I’ve got another eight months of this to come in 2007, and I’ll be riding it out until this time next year easily between wrapping up my thoughts, maybe a book, a gallery, speaking, having prints made, and contact quite a few people to say thanks.

Cheers to 2007! I’m wishing an amazing year for everyone out there and from the standpoint of my trip I really want to encourage everyone to pursuit what it is that drives them. So there we go, I solved it. No confusion or questions about it, my resolution will be to encourage others to pursuit exactly what it is they want to do. In 2006 that’s what I learned how to do.
