You're viewing the original Hometown Invasion Tour website as it appeared in 2006/07. At the time, a site built with tables and flash was commonplace. A few backend changes were made to keep the site functioning, but it appears just as it did 16 years ago.

Go Tigers!

Sunday, Oct 15, 2006 from Hammond, Montana

Even when I played little league I never really watched baseball on TV. When little league was over I lost all my interest in baseball. Well, this trip has changed that a little bit. I’ve been to three ballparks and two games. All I have to say now is go Tigers! Having grown up in Michigan I always cheer for the Detroit teams, even though my hometown is closer to Green Bay, Chicago, and Minneapolis. Well the Red Wings are always solid these days. The Pistons have been great. The Lions, hmmm, I won’t go there. And now the Tigers, they’re on their way to the World Series. It’s a good year for Detroit sports and it makes me even more proud of my home state while I’m on the road. The Red Wings were the #1 team in the regular season. The Pistons were the #1 team in the regular season. And now the Tigers head to the World Series. Michigan and Detroit is one of the best places for sports in the country.

It gave me a lot of joy to watch the Tigers get that win today. I knew that back home a whole bunch of my friends were watching the game cheering on too, maybe even a few who were at the game. Aside from that, it’s simply an amazing accomplishment to come that far from where they were in the last few seasons, including the worst season in MLB history (I believe) only a few years ago.

Michigan, you’ll be happy to know that I’m putting a good word out for being the best state in the country. Oh yeah! And as for the Tigers, well I’ll be cheering from the road, and paying attention as close as I can.

Yay for rooting on the Tigers. I too, am a Michigan (Metro Detroit) native. It's soooo good to see them going to the World Series. Gotta love it!
