Bears 17 - Raiders 0Saturday, Sep 30, 2006 from White Bear Lake, MinnesotaWhite Bear Lake you have officially been invaded. Now back to the game. The White Bear Lake Bears won their homecoming game against Roseville 17-0. The game… it was alright. The crowd, fans, and turnout, I was blown away. I can see what I missed going to such a small school. It’s not that I didn’t love it, but wow I’m a little jealous of what I saw tonight. It just seems that the big high school experience would be amazing especially for something like homecoming. My graduating class was 44 compared to about 500-600 here in White Bear Lake. I got a great feel for homecoming and could put a pretty good collection of photos together. The weather for the game was perfect… except for five minutes when the homecoming court walked out with their parents. It was a complete downpour for a short time. Just enough to get all of the homecoming court soaking wet and the fans. The football players were all in their locker room when the rain came pouring down. It made for a few great photos though. If this trip is about experiencing American life in the United States, homecoming is a HUGE piece of that in my opinion. It’s something that everyone in the U.S. goes through. Every town in the country looks forward to homecoming, whether it be high school or college. I was thankful to be a part of White Bear Lakes. I’ll never forget it… especially the mob of little kids. But there seems to be a great amount of joy and excitement and school pride. It was cool! Good game Bears! Keep it up. |
