You're viewing the original Hometown Invasion Tour website as it appeared in 2006/07. At the time, a site built with tables and flash was commonplace. A few backend changes were made to keep the site functioning, but it appears just as it did 16 years ago.

Packed and Ready

Friday, Sep 8, 2006 from Baraga, Michigan

It’s been a great few days at home, but it’s time to hit the road for good. I’ve spent a lot of time this week getting additional things ready and making sure I had everything I need. This week at home gave me a good feel of how much free time I’ll have on the trip and how busy I’ll actually be. I spent a lot of time talking to local family friends and letting them know about the big year ahead of me.

Even with a few extras I managed to pack pretty light and have quite a bit of room left in the Jeep Compass for whatever I buy along the way. I imagine living out of a car and duffel bag isn’t going to be easy when keeping things in order, but everything is set up just the way I want. My camera will be riding shotgun so I can grab it at any time. My iPod and SIRIUS radio are all set to entertain me. My notepad is in reach, as well as my log book for miles and gas. Last night I cleaned up the car, washing it for the first time. Spotless. This is what I’ve prepared for and I’m ready.

I’ll be waking up early to get a good hearty breakfast in before I leave. Some friends are going to come over for some coffee and homemade baked goods to wish me a farewell. From here I make the six hour drive to Milwaukee. Wisconsin… here I come! -xo
