You're viewing the original Hometown Invasion Tour website as it appeared in 2006/07. At the time, a site built with tables and flash was commonplace. A few backend changes were made to keep the site functioning, but it appears just as it did 16 years ago.

Looking for a Job

Wednesday, Sep 12, 2007 from East Lansing, Michigan

Calling all potential employers! I am unemployed and looking for work. Are you and your company looking for a great employee? Because I think I’m your guy. The biggest statement I could make about my experiences this year is that I took a significant idea, a dream that many thought couldn’t be done, and made it happen. I gave it my passion and effort. I have exemplified what it means to be dedicated.

As for what kind of job I would like, that’s a tough question. My interests are vast. I long for a unique job. An 8 to 5 office job probably would not suit me well, or a strict dress code for that matter. I look at myself as an “idea guy.” I make a lot of lists of all the things I want to do, all the new projects I want to begin. Some of them have to do with photography, some websites, some traveling, some entirely different. I long to find work that can inspire others, make a difference, and put some good into the world. Also, my potential employers, I believe there is nothing I can’t do with hard work.

There are some jobs out there that I will apply for where people will say, “you’re not qualified for this job and lack the experience.” I say bring it on. I lacked the experience to travel to all 50 states by myself. I had no idea how to find sponsorship and thousands of dollars in donations. I wasn’t qualified to write a top of the line press release either, but it made it AP wire. It’s my belief that passion, rather than skill, gets the job done better than anything else. I have always looked up to Richard Branson. Branson dropped out of high school and started a record company. Branson didn’t know what he was doing either, that’s why he named his company Virgin Records. Several decades later… he’s a billionaire.

From creative guru at a top ad agency to National Geographic photographer, I am looking for a unique job where I can apply my greatest passions. Even better, if there are any investors out there, I am still looking to take bigger trips, start bigger projects, and start an advertising and promotions agency of my own. I feel, and hope, that The Hometown Invasion Tour is just one project, one adventure, and one success of many to come. More ideas are coming to me. The Hometown Invasion Tour just happens to fill up September 2006 to September 2007. As for what’s next, the future is wide open.

My brother's friend works for Leo Brunett; she said she would be happy to pass along yur 'resume' (or I guess in your case magazine articles and a blog cover letter). P.S. You stole that last line from Tom Petty. I'm telling
