You're viewing the original Hometown Invasion Tour website as it appeared in 2006/07. At the time, a site built with tables and flash was commonplace. A few backend changes were made to keep the site functioning, but it appears just as it did 16 years ago.

East Lansing Invasion

Wednesday, Sep 12, 2007 from East Lansing, Michigan

Watch out East Lansing, it’s your turn to be invaded, I’m back! It’s a little strange to be back. For the first time in a year I know my way all over town, after visiting around a 100 towns in the last year. After that many new towns and never being familiar to any of it, it’s a little strange to be in a familiar place. This year the unfamiliar became the familiar, and vice versa. To get work done I find myself needing to go to places I have never been before. I simply can’t work in a familiar place. Something that’s even more strange is I felt more at place in my latest host’s house rather than staying with friends. Now that’s just strange! It might take a while to adjust.

Anyways… the latest host. About a week ago I opened an e-mail from Sam Singh, the mayor of East Lansing. He sent me an e-mail and offered to meet up. I e-mailed back and asked if he wanted to be my last host. That was that, and he became the first city official to host me on The Hometown Invasion Tour. It’s an appropriate way to finish up in East Lansing and gives me new perspective on the town I spent five years in as a student.

During the last year I have been given the local experience of nearly 100 towns. Now that I’m in a town where I lived for five years it’s strange to hunt down the local experience. I’ve seen a lot of towns with a lot of different atmospheres. My conclusion is that East Lansing is truly a good place to live. People take a lot of pride in living here and of course Michigan State plays a large role in that. There is always something going on in town, always something to do, and always something new to try.

Always something new to try! I encourage people to get out there and try new things. I mean for myself I can’t get work done unless I’m in an unfamiliar environment. I’ll be in and around East Lansing for a while and I hope to do a lot of things here in town that I haven’t done before. On behalf of myself, welcome back to East Lansing Bugsy!
