You're viewing the original Hometown Invasion Tour website as it appeared in 2006/07. At the time, a site built with tables and flash was commonplace. A few backend changes were made to keep the site functioning, but it appears just as it did 16 years ago.

Miles: 549

Friday, Oct 27, 2006 from Boise, Idaho

Today marked the longest single day drive on the trip so far at 549 miles. It was a haul! But I still made it in less time than I expected. I’m used to the 55mph speed limit in Yooper Country rather than the 75mph limit on the interstate here.

I made it, in one piece, and with hardly any effort. I didn’t leave until about 2pm today from Helena, as I grabbed a quick bite with Andrew and Emily before heading out of town. I shouldn’t say it was just quick bite. I hat “The Nuke” at the Staggering Ox. It’s rated one of the top 3 sandwiches in the country by Maxim magazine. How about that! I’m quite happy about it. And I didn’t even know, I just said I’ve gotta try that one. Little did I know. It’s a pretty basic sandwich, but darn good, and if you want to know more I suggest you get to Helena and try it yourself.

So anyways, I hit the road. I think I have an easier time driving at night than during the day actually. My eyes just don’t get bugged out during the night. At this point I’ve logged over 6,000 miles as I made it to Boise, Idaho, my 9th state.

While here I’m staying with Teddy, a 22-year old college student at Boise State University, home of the Smurf Turf. It should be a great week spending time with some people my age ago, back in the college atmosphere with Teddy and his friends. And I can tell that these are the kind of guys that I’ll get along with just great. I sense another great week coming up. Welcome to Boise!
