You're viewing the original Hometown Invasion Tour website as it appeared in 2006/07. At the time, a site built with tables and flash was commonplace. A few backend changes were made to keep the site functioning, but it appears just as it did 16 years ago.

Goodbye Boise

Thursday, Nov 2, 2006 from Boise, Idaho

The grand finale for being at Boise was attending the BSU football game tonight with the famous blue turf. Most of the crew was there and we started with The Hometown Invasion Tour tailgate party. Lots of people swinging by to ask questions. Some good burgers. And more orange and blue than I could have imagined. Then BSU went on to whoop up on Fresno making my record 6-0 so far for the trip.

Wow, has Boise ever been good to me. I love it here. This is the closest I’ve become to a group of people on the trip so far. It helps that I was hanging out with people my age. I don’t know what to say, I can’t sum it up in words. Something happened this week. I feel like I’m a student here at BSU, except just not taking any classes. I’m happy to be wearing my blue and orange and I could see myself going to this school and living here.

It’s going to be really hard to leave tomorrow. Somewhere there are just lots of great emotions tied to this place in only a weeks time. These people are family to me. Nancy’s kindness and generosity has been far beyond expectations. She has supported me with fun stuff like a decked out Halloween costume and BSU gear, some great meals, and everything in between. She’s been so enthusiastic to have me to the central coast in California and to do anything she can. Teddy, what a guy! What can I say? This kid has the ability to make fun out of any situation and turn any dull moment into a lifelong memory. I love his ideas. I love the way he thinks. He’s an original guy, no doubt about it. His complements towards my project go a long ways for me. And Teddy, I have so much respect for you with your decision not to drink alcohol. Kristy! How gorgeous and sweet! Kristy has been great to get to know this week. Her and her mom, Nancy, were unexpected. I didn’t know that I was going to get to know them just as well. They made me one of their own. The duo of these two are fantastic. And it looks like I’ll be seeing the other family members when I get to central California. Kristy you’re a sweetheart! Charming, welcoming, inviting, and so easy and pleasant to talk with. Cole, you’re one of the nicest guys I’ve met on this trip with a lot of knowledge in all sorts of stuff. Much respect, much respect. Joey, ahh Joey. Now this is one cool cat to hang out with. Another great sense of humor and endless laughs. And Joey, you just have that smirk that cracks me up. Kayla, I save the prettiest girl ‘til last. You’re a doll! And the rest of the crew you all showed me an amazing time this week. I’ll keep it short for now on all this.

Driving away tomorrow might be kind of a downer after an amazing week like this. This week is epic. I can drive away knowing I made some amazing friends, memories, and I left something behind to return to. It reminds me of church camp when I was a kid. It was the best week ever and leaving was the hardest thing to do. But you just longed for next year to see everyone again. And although you only got to spend a week with these people every year they became your best friends. It’s kinda like that.

“Oh weird, Bugsy is getting sentimental for once in his life.”

Kayla and Cole stopped by my house last night after the BBQ at Kristy's house and they both seemed a little out of sorts. They were really sad to see their "Bugsy" gone. You really made an impact on the group and I am just really sad that I never got to meet you. But I know you will be returning. Best of luck to you in your travels to come!
