You're viewing the original Hometown Invasion Tour website as it appeared in 2006/07. At the time, a site built with tables and flash was commonplace. A few backend changes were made to keep the site functioning, but it appears just as it did 16 years ago.

It's Good to be da Driver

Sunday, Dec 10, 2006 from 'Ewa Beach, Hawaii

So far on this trip I’ve averaged about 100 miles of driving per day. Well, in the last week that has fallen. I went to NYC and didn’t drive at all. Only a couple short trips when I was in El Segundo. And now I’ve been in Hawaii for several days. Oh how much I miss the freedom of driving! I suppose I kind of take it for granted on this trip, you know, being stuck in a car, living out of it for a year, putting who knows how many thousands of miles on it before I return back home.

Well, today Gaudencia was kind enough to let me borrow her car to drive up to North Shore. It was so nice to be in a car and driving again! Maybe it has something to do with home now. Driving is the most familiar thing to me on this trip.

To be honest, I really miss the Compass. It’s my home, with all it’s pretty colors and the disaster of a mess that’s now inside it. I can’t wait to get back in that thing and drive, drive, drive! I’m really not going to want to part with this Compass ever, it’s my soul mate, ok maybe not my soul mate, but after a trip like this, it has a lot of sentimental value to say the least.

P.S. It’s funny how such small things can remind me of home and just bring a little twinkle to my eye and a quick little smile. In this case it’s something as small as the same kind of hand soap from Bath and Body Works that my mom had back home.
