You're viewing the original Hometown Invasion Tour website as it appeared in 2006/07. At the time, a site built with tables and flash was commonplace. A few backend changes were made to keep the site functioning, but it appears just as it did 16 years ago.

Wednesday, Nov 29, 2006 from Los Angeles, California

Wow! Who would have thought? Well, I did for one. When this trip first started I told myself it could go either one of two ways. Either it would be a complete flop or it would be a complete success and much more than I could have ever imagine or handle myself. Now that I’m on a side trip to NYC writing from 39,000 feet I think the answer is it’s a success. Naomi’s New Morning is having me as a guest on the show tomorrow, and they found me! Oh how cool it is that I’m being flown to NYC from Los Angeles. This trip has come a long way in a few months, and I’ve got 38 states to go. I’m humbled by what I started and how everyone has helped me to get to this point.

I’m excited to be flying. There’s an amazing destination on the other side of the trip, and between I get to do what I want with no distractions. Snowboard season is going on and for the first time I got to watch a snowboard video on my MacBook. Usually I would be watching snowboard videos all during the fall to get psyched up for the season. I finally got a break from all the chaos and a chance to watch a few. A chance to absorb a little more of what’s been going on.

And there is my love for airports and people watching. I saw a lady at LAX with an Michigan State sweatshirt on. Being the proud Spartan that I am I couldn’t let her slip away without talking with her. Her husband is an MSU grad and they’re on their way back to Grand Rapids. I asked her to enjoy Michigan winter for me, because I’m sure going to miss it.

Oh how I wish I had a window seat. I brought Rice on board hoping to get a photo of him next to the window. I’m trying to peak from the middle and it looks like we must be over the desert in Nevada. Maybe I’ll be luckier on the way back. I love windows, to look out on the world, windows, windows, windows.

Hey Bugsy, Maybe a bit more info on the show so we can set our TiVo/VCR/Alarm Clock/etc? I think we all want to see it! After some searching around, I think I found it: Just called "New Morning", on the Hallmark Channel, 7AM on the East Coast, 4 AM here on the West Coast (at least on my satellite system) - We'll be watching!

Oops, maybe spoke too soon - looks like "NAOMI'S New Morning" (as opposed to the other show on Hallmark called "New Morning" - like that's not confusing!) is actually on Sundays at 11AM. At least that is what I was able to find on the Hallmark website... anyone who knows for sure, clear this up! ;-)
