You're viewing the original Hometown Invasion Tour website as it appeared in 2006/07. At the time, a site built with tables and flash was commonplace. A few backend changes were made to keep the site functioning, but it appears just as it did 16 years ago.

Happy Thanksgiving

Thursday, Nov 23, 2006 from San Luis Obispo, California

This is my first Thanksgiving outside of Michigan and away from my parents. A lot of people have asked me about what I’m doing for different holidays on the trip. And I think today is going to be pretty cool to spend it with a new family I’ve never met. They said there should be about 16 or 17 people, ranging from 7-70 I think. Hopefully I can remember all of their names.

My favorite part of Thanksgiving growing up wasn’t the food, it was when we would go around the table and say what we’re all thankful for. Well, this Thanksgiving I could list things all day that I’m thankful for. Aside from all the new things I’ve tried and adventure that’s mentioned on the site this trip has also showed me a lot about family life, friends, and life in general. To say I’m thankful for everything is hardly enough. Everyone that has helped me on this trip is remembered not on just days like Thanksgiving, but every day.

From graduating college, finding sponsorship from Jeep, support from friends and family, and actually making this trip happen it’s been amazing. And there’s a lot of thanks to all the people who have put up with me living with them for a few days. And there’s a lot more to go! I’m enjoying it all.

It’s still morning here and I’m still waking up. But I’m excited to get to know the family and I’ve already been very welcomed. And a big THANK YOU to everyone that has sent me a small comment, had my at their house, make donations, and for simply supporting and encouraging me on this big wonderful year.
