You're viewing the original Hometown Invasion Tour website as it appeared in 2006/07. At the time, a site built with tables and flash was commonplace. A few backend changes were made to keep the site functioning, but it appears just as it did 16 years ago.

UAB Student Life

Friday, Apr 20, 2007 from Vestavia Hills, Alabama

For a few more days while on the invasion I get to spend some more time at a university. What can I say, I’ll never have enough university life. I can’t get enough of the atmosphere and hanging out and visiting and seeing how it all compares to Michigan State. This time it’s the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

After a lazy day the night turned busy. Lauren, Jenna, Ben and I headed to the Alpha Omicron Pi intramural softball game. Mostly I just wanted to get up and start playing myself since I haven’t had much physical activity on this trip. A few pictures to come soon!

It was off to the dorms! A late night meal in the cafeteria while visiting and the girls gawking at the basketball players lasted until midnight. MSU should take a few pointers. This little part of the caff is open until 2am serving basics like burgers and chicken fingers. It’s a great little place to hang out, more like a little café or diner.

The real highlight of the night came at around 2am or so. Ben and I were playing Madden on PlayStation. I’m a rookie. I’ve played it once or twice, the last time being in Loup City, NE with Mitchell and his friends. Once again, there I was getting beat the entire game. At the beginning of the 4th quarter I believe the score was 31 to 20. Well, I was just warming up. In the 4th quarter I would outscore Ben 30 to 7 and come back for an unpredictable victory after a safety, fumble, and last minute hail marry just to rub it in. Good game Ben, good game!

It would be my second night staying in a dorm room on the trip and yet again I slept in three different places in three different days. It’s adding up!

My family and I thoroughly enjoyed having Justin as a part of the family for the short time he was here. We had a hard time letting him go. I hope he gets the pictures on here soon! :-) It was very nice talking to you on Sunday! I hope all is well in Michigan!
