-Bugsy You're viewing the original Hometown Invasion Tour website as it appeared in 2006/07. At the time, a site built with tables and flash was commonplace. A few backend changes were made to keep the site functioning, but it appears just as it did 16 years ago. See what I've been up to for the last 16 years at www.bugsy.me |

My First Formal: AOIISaturday, Apr 21, 2007 from Vestavia Hills, AlabamaLast night was brand new stuff for me. Sort of, after going to five proms I should have been prepared I suppose. I went to my first sorority formal, something I never did at Michigan State. I never really knew anyone from Greek Life and it was distant to me. It was a good thing I had my dress clothes and thanks to Jenna for taking the time to iron my shirt that was a wrinkled mess. Actually, we found out it had a lipstick stain from Naomi Judd. That was the last time I wore the shirt, when I was in New York. Oh well. The festivities began. The crew I was rolling with had eight other people: Lauren, Brandon, Jenna, Amanda, Britney, Ben, Rachel, and Brit. I was the oldest at 24, the others were all between 17 and 20 I believe. I felt a little old and a little out of place. I didn’t know what I was doing there. I’m guessing there were about 400 people at the Alpha Omicron Pi dance and some AMAZING appetizers. They had this tiny little cupcakes (I haven’t had cupcakes in a long time!) and chocolate covered strawberries. Delicious. After a little bit of feeling awkward I finally let myself go and believe it or not, I danced! Brit told me some comment about my dancing, for some reason I think it included the word “suave” and some kind of hand gestures from her mocking my dancing. But I put my best effort into it. Hey, it’s hard to dance with a five pound camera! I danced once in 2007 now I don’t have to again until 2008, once a year is good enough for me. Quite frankly I thought it was a pretty mild party. Somebody needs to teach these UAB students to party. The Honors College Ball at MSU gets a lot crazier than the Greek formal, and the HCB doesn’t even serve alcohol. But it was a good time! A great experience for my trip that’s all about seeing American life. After some late night fries at Al’s we made it back to the apartment at about 2:30am. I laid down on the floor and was asleep within minutes. It would take 30 states for me to truly sleep on the floor for my first time. ![]() ![]() ![]() From Clanton, AL
