You're viewing the original Hometown Invasion Tour website as it appeared when launched in 2006. Back then, a site built with tables and flash was commonplace. A few changes were made, but it appears as it did eleven years ago.

The Dallas Spartans

Friday, Mar 9, 2007 from Plano, Texas

There are around 1,800 Michigan State alumni in the Dallas/Fort Worth metropolitan area. That’s a lot! That’s more people than live in Baraga. I would have never guessed.

Going to a school like Michigan State makes a big difference on a trip when you’re visiting all 50 states. There are fellow Spartans in every state and by the hundreds in any metro area.

Bringing all of this up is watching the MSU vs NW basketball game in the Big Ten tournament today. Bill has a few friends in the MSU alumni club here in Dallas and brought me along to meet a few for the afternoon game. A close game that got a little scary at times. But we pulled out of it in the end and face Wisconsin tomorrow night. Being an afternoon game on a Thursday there weren’t many people there, so I’ll probably head back tomorrow night when there should be a big big crowd.

Perhaps my next tour will be the Spartan Invasion Tour. It’d be great to have a vehicle decked out in sweet graphics, full of green and white, attending MSU events across the nation for a year, staying with only MSU alumni, and seeing everything green and white. Hey, I wonder if I could make it a paid position at the university? It’d be a great way for them to promote MSU, or at least the alumni foundation or something. Any other Spartans want to sign up?

I’m pumped to meet some other Spartans on the road. Go Green! Go White!

Kelly, you're right. Wisconsin did pull through. It was a tough game. But we all know who's better. Oh... but I did see on the news tonight that Madison was rated the #1 town for walking.
